Coyote

What to do if you spot a coyote.

Hazing is a method that makes use of deterrents to move an animal out of an area or discourage an undesirable behavior or activity. Hazing can help maintain a coyote’s fear of humans and deter them from backyards and play spaces.

Yell and wave your arms while walking toward the coyote.

Use noise makers like air horns, whistles, pots, or pennies in a can to scare them.

Throw sticks, tennis balls, small rocks, or other projectiles at them.

Turn the hose on them.

To learn more about hazing visit The Humane Society Coyote Hazing Guidelines, or NC Wildlife-Coexist with Coyotes
