The Southern Shores Fire Department encourages residents to participate in the Door Saver Program, an initiative designed to help emergency responders access homes quickly and safely during emergencies while reducing damage to doors and windows caused by forced entry.
The program is intended to provide faster access for emergency services when every second matters, particularly for residents who live alone, may be vulnerable, travel frequently, or want added peace of mind knowing responders can enter their home quickly if needed.
Residents can choose from three available options:
- A Knox Box system using a unique Southern Shores Fire Department key system.
- A secure lock box installed by the Fire Department.
- Registering a home access code with the Fire Department for emergency use.
The program is designed to:
- Improve emergency response access times
- Reduce forced-entry damage to doors and windows
- Provide secure access for authorized responders only
- Offer added peace of mind for residents and families
