Mayor Bennett’s Address to Leadership OBX’s Government Day, December 13, 2017
The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Outer Banks program offers a career building/community building opportunity each year for 24 people involved with local businesses, government, and other organizations. The Leadership OBX participants meet approximately once a month over a period of nine months to develop and enhance their leadership skills, build relationships, and learn about the great variety of resources that make our Outer Banks community what it is today. Each of the monthly sessions focuses on one aspect of our community on the Outer Banks. Topics for the upcoming year include: Education, Public Safety, Social Issues, Government, Economic Development, Healthcare, Tourism, Environment, and a special session on Hatteras Island. The program hosts a Government Day each session which includes a Mayor’s Session, allowing the Dare County municipalities’ Mayors to represent and share information about their communities with the Leadership Outer Banks class.
