Town Boards & Committees Volunteers Needed: The Southern Shores Town Council makes appointments to the Planning Board, the Board of Adjustment and various special committees from time to time. If you are interested in being considered for service as an alternate or regular member of such a volunteer Board or Committee please contact the Merrie and or go to Volunteer and express your interest and qualifications to serve. Planning Board - Rules of Procedures and Statement of Work for Planning Board Committees Active Committees at this time: Stormwater Advisory Committee is a committee of the planning board developing recommendations for changes in the Town's ordinances to address stormwater management issues. Members are as follows: Jay Russell, Chair, George Kowalski, Dan Shields, Alvin Rountree, Rob Milne and Karl Daniels. Stormwater Management Report and Presentation. At this time the committee is inactive waiting for the assignments from the Planning board or Town Council Vegetation Advisory Committee; This committee has been disbanded. Land Use Plan Steering Committee Hazard Mitigation Committee; This committee is currently updating the Town Hazard Mitigation Plan. Member are as follows: Jim Pfizenmayer, Kevin Stroud, Charlie Read, Bob Palombo, Mike Florez, Peter McOrmond, Dan Shields, Karl Daniels, David Cowan, Alvin Rountree, Chief Kole, Chief Harvey and Richard Perkins. Roads Evaluation Committee: The Southern Shores Road Evaluation Committee, (SSREC), was commissioned on June 5, 2007, as a subcommittee of the SS Planning Board for the purpose of inspecting road surfaces, and prioritizing their need for repair. An amendment to this charge was made by the Council directing the committee to coordinate its activities with the Storm Water Management Committee. Member are as follows: David Peckens, Chair; Ron Barbaro, Dave Curtis, Hal Denny, Bob & Elsa Edwards and Frank Klahre. The Committee submitted their report to Council at their August 5 meeting.
